The Web Is for
Everyone.
Ornetis is committed to making our website accessible to all people, regardless of ability or technology. We view accessibility not as a compliance requirement, but as a core design principle.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
Ornetis believes that everyone deserves equal access to digital content and services. We are committed to ensuring that our website, ornetis.com, is accessible to individuals with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
We actively work to align our website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility. This is an ongoing effort, and we continuously review and improve our accessibility posture.
Accessibility is not a feature we add after the fact — it is a design requirement from the start. We embed accessibility reviews into our website development process and conduct regular audits to identify and address gaps.
Conformance Status
We are working toward full conformance with WCAG 2.1. Our current status by conformance level:
Level A
Minimum accessibility requirements — essential for some users
Substantially MetLevel AA
Addresses the most common accessibility barriers for most users
Partially MetLevel AAA
Highest level — enhanced accessibility for specialized situations
AspirationalKnown areas of partial conformance and our remediation plans are documented in Section 8. We conduct formal accessibility audits every 6 months using a combination of automated tools and manual expert review.
The Four POUR Principles
WCAG 2.1 is organized around four core principles that ensure content is accessible to all users:
Perceivable
Information and interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive. This includes providing text alternatives for non-text content, captions for multimedia, and sufficient color contrast.
Operable
UI components and navigation must be operable by all users. This means full keyboard accessibility, no seizure-inducing animations, sufficient time limits, and clear navigation landmarks.
Understandable
Information and operation of the interface must be understandable. Pages must have identified languages, labels for inputs, predictable behavior, and helpful error messages.
Robust
Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by assistive technologies. This means using valid, semantic HTML that works across browsers, devices, and assistive technology combinations.
What We've Done
We have implemented the following accessibility features across ornetis.com:
- →Semantic HTML5 markup with proper heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) for logical document structure
- →ARIA landmarks and labels on all interactive components where native semantics are insufficient
- →Alt text on all meaningful images; decorative images use empty alt attributes to be ignored by screen readers
- →Color contrast ratios of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (WCAG AA)
- →Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements for keyboard users
- →Skip navigation link at the top of each page to bypass repeated navigation
- →Form fields with explicit, associated labels; error messages linked to the relevant input
- →No content that flashes more than 3 times per second (seizure-safe design)
- →All functionality is operable via keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse
- →Page language declared in the HTML lang attribute on every page
- →Responsive design that scales from mobile to desktop without loss of functionality
- →PDF documents include text content (not scanned images) with proper tagging where possible
Keyboard Navigation
Our website is designed to be fully navigable using a keyboard alone. Standard keyboard shortcuts that work on ornetis.com:
| Key / Combination | Action |
|---|---|
Tab | Move forward through interactive elements |
Shift + Tab | Move backward through interactive elements |
Enter or Space | Activate buttons and links |
Arrow Keys | Navigate within menus and dropdowns |
Escape | Close modals, dropdowns, and overlays |
Home / End | Jump to start or end of a list or page |
A visible "Skip to main content" link is available as the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation.
Screen Reader Compatibility
We test our website with commonly used screen readers across major operating systems. Our target compatibility includes:
- →NVDA + Firefox — Windows
- →JAWS + Chrome — Windows
- →VoiceOver + Safari — macOS & iOS
- →TalkBack + Chrome — Android
We use semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and live regions to ensure that dynamic content changes are announced correctly. All interactive components include descriptive accessible names and state information.
Text & Visual Accessibility
- •Text resizing — All text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without loss of content or functionality
- •Font size — Default body text is at minimum 16px; line height is 1.5 or greater for readability
- •Color not sole indicator — We never rely on color alone to convey information; icons, labels, or patterns supplement color cues
- •High contrast mode — Our site is compatible with Windows High Contrast Mode and similar OS-level accessibility settings
- •Reduced motion — We respect the prefers-reduced-motion CSS media query to disable non-essential animations for users who prefer reduced movement
- •Responsive layout — Content reflows at all zoom levels and viewport sizes without horizontal scrolling
Known Limitations
We are transparent about the areas of our website that are not yet fully conformant. We are actively working to address these:
- →Some PDFs — Older downloadable documents may not be fully tagged for screen reader access. We are working to remediate existing PDFs and ensure all new PDFs meet accessibility standards.Target remediation: Q2 2026
- →Complex data visualizations — Some charts and infographics currently lack full textual alternatives. We are adding table equivalents and descriptive summaries.Target remediation: Q3 2026
- →Live chat widget — Our third-party live chat tool has known accessibility limitations. We are working with the vendor to improve compliance.Target remediation: Under review with vendor
- →Video captions — Some older video content lacks closed captions. New video content includes captions as standard.Target remediation: Ongoing
If you need accessible versions of any content that is not currently accessible, please contact us at info@ornetis.com and we will provide an alternative format within 5 business days.
Supported Assistive Technologies
Our website is designed to work with the following assistive technologies. While we cannot guarantee compatibility with all versions, we test regularly with current versions:
- →Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android), Narrator (Windows)
- →Voice recognition software: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Windows Speech Recognition, Voice Control (macOS)
- →Switch access devices and single-switch scanning
- →Head pointer and eye-tracking software
- →Browser zoom and operating system magnification tools
- →High contrast operating system themes
- →Braille display devices compatible with supported screen readers
Third-Party Content
Some content on our website is provided or embedded from third-party services (e.g., video platforms, maps, social media embeds). While we endeavor to use accessible third-party tools, we cannot fully control the accessibility of third-party content.
Where third-party content is not accessible, we strive to provide equivalent alternatives. If you encounter inaccessible third-party content and require assistance, please contact us and we will work to provide an alternative means of access.
We evaluate the accessibility of third-party tools as part of our vendor selection process and give preference to providers that demonstrate a commitment to accessibility.
